The Acropolis is closed on 1 January, 25 March, 1 May, 25 and 26 December and on Orthodox Easter Sunday (2 May in 2027). It has no weekly closing day.

What time is best to arrive?
In summer, take the first slots of the morning: the rock has very little shade. In winter the site closes at 17:00 and last entry is at 16:40, so do not leave the visit for the end of the afternoon.
In extreme heat the Ministry of Culture can close the site during the hottest hours of the day, so a morning visit is also the safer plan.
Is it free on some days?
Yes. Entry is free on 6 March, 18 April, 18 May, 28 October and on the last weekend of September. From 1 November to 31 March it is also free on the first and the third Sunday of the month. On free days the tickets are issued at the ticket offices.
How long does the visit take?
Plan at least one hour on the rock. If you like history or photography, plan two.
Can I change my time slot?
You can change a time slot up to two hours before the visit, and no more than twice per ticket. The ticket is not refundable.
